Thousands of people watched Cai Guo-Qiang's "One Page"

More than 600 pyrotechnic drones flew over the Ribeira in Porto and the Cais de Gaia

The sky above the Douro river was transformed into a giant canvas. The Ribeira and the Cais de Gaia witnessed an exclusive and memorable moment developed especially for this edition of BABELL, offering a breathtaking spectacle to the thousands of spectators who gathered to watch "One Page."

For this unprecedented creation, Cai Guo-Qiang combined drones and gunpowder to produce a large-scale intervention intended to evoke the literature, history, and soul of Porto. A story told above the Douro river that intertwined the freedom of writing with the identity of Porto.

Titled "One Page," the performance took the form of a "brief verse" drawn across the sky.

For this project, conceived specifically for BABELL, Cai Guo-Qiang's vision was brought to life in the skies through the expertise of the French team Groupe F, responsible for piloting and controlling the drones, in close collaboration with the Portuguese company Macedos Pirotecnia, which handled the entire pyrotechnics component.
