Last days to visit Act the Thought. The internationally awarded exhibition closes on 14 September at the Monastery of Leça do Balio

One of the most emblematic exhibitions of the cultural programme of the Monastery of Leça do Balio is coming to an end. Act the Thought – Act with Thought can only be visited until 14 September 2025, after attracting more than 30,000 visitors and earning recognition at international design and curatorship awards.
The exhibition, which bridges heritage and contemporaneity, places the theme of disinformation at its centre, inviting the public to reflect on how we consume, share and validate information. Throughout the exhibition, texts, images and interactive installations challenge visitors to think critically and to question the narratives that shape today’s society.
The project was developed in collaboration with leading partners such as UNESCO Media and Information Literacy (MIL), which has been promoting media literacy as an essential tool for more informed and resilient societies, and Polígrafo, Portugal’s first fact-checking platform, which contributed concrete examples of the fight against fake news. These partnerships reinforce the relevance of the theme and bring art closer to urgent issues in public debate.
Distinguished at events such as the European Design Awards, the Clube de Criativos de Portugal Festival, and the European Design Festival, Act the Thought has stood out for its ability to combine conceptual rigour with visual impact, creating an immersive experience that blends art, technology and critical reflection.
The Monastery of Leça do Balio, a National Monument and historical landmark on the Way of St. James, proved to be the ideal setting for this reflection. The dialogue between the centuries-old space and the contemporary theme of disinformation offered visitors a unique experience, where past and present intersect to raise challenges for the future.
With the closing date set for 14 September, these are the last days to visit Act the Thought – Act with Thought. An opportunity to experience an exhibition that has left its mark on both the national and international artistic and cultural scene.
Open until 14 September, Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6:30 pm.
