GLOBAL MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY WEEK

24th to 31 October, 2024

Livraria Lello Foundation
based in the
Monastery of Leça do Balio

In keeping with its mission to ‘empower people to read the world’, the Livraria Lello Foundation is promoting a series of conferences during World Media and Information Literacy Week, which runs from 24 to 31 October 2024 at the historic Leça do Balio Monastery.

This event, organised in partnership with several leading educational institutions in Portugal and with the support of the Media Literacy and Journalism Association, is a response to the growing threat that disinformation poses to contemporary democracies.

This cycle of conferences brings together experts from various fields to share practical and applicable knowledge, with the aim of empowering young people and professionals to face the challenges of the digital age.

Join us for this week dedicated to reflection and dialogue on the crucial role of media literacy in society.
These lectures will be conducted in Portuguese, with the exception of the lecture on 31 October at 4pm ‘Greenwashing’: Becoming Cats - Not Sheep' with UCP, which will be guided in English.

Free entry, subject to prior registration.
