The Livraria Lello Foundation will host, on October 12, the presentation of the children’s book “The (Bad) Smelly One”, written by Anabela Mendes and illustrated by Inês Martins.

“The (Bad) Smelly One”, by Anabela Mendes, with illustrations by Inês Martins, is a fun and sensitive story that takes us into the world of childhood, where laughter, curiosity, and even smells come to life.

The book follows the character The Bad Smelly One, a peculiar figure who, despite his name, makes us reflect on how we deal with differences and how words — whether spoken softly or harshly — have the power to leave a mark and transform those who hear them.

Inspired by children’s everyday lives, this story values imagination and discovery, showing that even what seems strange can be seen as unique and special. Its simple, poetic, and musical language invites reading aloud, making it ideal for young readers or for shared moments with family and at school.

After the book presentation, children will take part in the creation of an interactive illustration.
