SAINT JAMES DAY CELEBRATION
On the upcoming July 25th, St. James' Day, we invite pilgrims on their way to Santiago to stop by the Monastery of Leça do Balio for a unique spiritual experience.
Event Program:
- Foot Washing Ritual: We begin in the silo, a redesigned space conceived as a foot-washing station, providing a moment of purification before the visit to the Open Sculpture.
- Guided Tour of the Open Sculpture: After the foot-washing ritual, we continue with a guided tour of the Open Sculpture, a contemporary work that reinforces the millennial relationship of the monastery with the Way of Saint James. This sculpture, designed by the renowned architect Álvaro Siza, encapsulates a spiritual journey in concrete and light. A symbol of inner and spiritual connection, the work includes in its open area the sculpture "Viandante," a poetic representation of the pilgrim's inner journey.
To participate, please register using the form below. Spots are limited to 20 people per ceremony to ensure a meaningful and engaging experience for all participants.
