BOOKS THAT TAKE CARE: DISCOVER THE POWER OF BIBLIOTHERAPY AT THE LIVRARIA LELLO FOUNDATION

World Mental Health Day

On World Mental Health Day, 10 October, the Livraria Lello Foundation is holding a meeting on Bibliotherapy at the Leça do Balio Monastery, led by Sandra Barão Nobre.

Literature has always played a crucial role in human evolution. On 10 October, the Livraria Lello Foundation is marking International Mental Health Day by offering a unique experience on Bibliotherapy, led by Sandra Barão Nobre, a true expert in the transformative power of books. For those who believe that reading can go far beyond words and literary pleasure and can directly impact your emotional well-being, this is an unmissable opportunity.

The event, to be held at the Monastery of Leça do Balio, at 6pm, at the Livraria Lello Foundation will be the stage for the presentation of the book ‘Reading for a Living - How Bibliotherapy Can Improve Our Lives’, a work by Sandra Barão Nobre, which demystifies this practice and makes it accessible to everyone. With a practical and inclusive approach, the book reveals how reading can be a tool for personal transformation, offering more than 200 suggestions for books that address different aspects of life.

This will be followed by a conversation with the author, introduced by a short story chosen by Sandra Barão Nobre, to reveal to the public some of the tools used in Bibliotherapy sessions.

The session promises to be an invitation to reflection and self-discovery through the power of stories. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about this therapeutic practice and how it can be applied in their daily lives to improve their mental and emotional health. Without a doubt, this is a unique opportunity to discover how books can be used as a form of personal and emotional care.

Date: 10 October 2024
Local: Livraria Lello Foundation - Leça do Balio Monastery
Time: 6pm
