LIVRARIA LELLO FOUNDATION ‘TOOK HAPPINESS CAMP PARTICIPANTS TO THE CLOUDS’
Livraria Lello and the Livraria Lello Foundation believe in the power of literature to generate happiness. On 17 September, the Alfândega do Porto building hosted Happiness Camp, and we were there with a unique space full of words that transported readers to scenarios tailored to each individual!
Europe's largest corporate happiness conference took place on 17 September at Happiness Camp in the Alfândega do Porto building. It was a day full of activities around promoting joy and well-being in the workplace.
Livraria Lello and the Livraria Lello Foundation presented a literary retreat, which transported our visitors to heaven, in a setting full of clouds, where everyone had the opportunity to escape from their routine and find a space to stop, reflect and relax.
According to the World Health Organisation, happiness at work is directly linked to lower stress levels, better interpersonal relationships and greater personal satisfaction. Portugal's case is worrying, as it was recently reported that it is the European country with the highest risk of developing burnout.
To escape the chaos of everyday life, the space at Livraria Lello and the Livraria Lello Foundation was designed to provide a true oasis of tranquillity and imagination, where visitors could disconnect from their routines and immerse themselves in an atmosphere of dreams and fantasy.
We selected short extracts from four books that share the power to transport us to the realms of fantasy, reflection, emotions and imagination. The works chosen were The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Poetic Anthology by Fernando Pessoa and Blindness by José Saramago.
We were pure inspiration for the thousand or so visitors who enjoyed our literary retreat! We actively contribute to the promotion of reading as an essential practice for happiness and well-being at work and in life!
