JOIN THE ARTISTIC MANIFESTO FOR TRUTH BY THE LIVRARIA LELLO FOUNDATION ON JUNE 15 AND 16 IN DOWNTOWN PORTO
The Livraria Lello Foundation is creating a cultural manifesto, to be displayed at the inauguration of the Leça do Balio Monastery. Everyone is invited to participate! Just show up at Rua das Carmelitas or Trindade Metro Station on June 15 and 16.
In the countdown to the inauguration of the Monastery of Leça do Balio, where it is headquartered, the Livraria Lello Foundation (FLL) is preparing an exhibition dedicated to Misinformation, identified by the World Economic Forum as the main global risk in the next two years, threatening the preservation of democratic values.
To achieve this, the Inside Out project by French artist JR was challenged to create, together with the FLL, a unique reference in participatory art.
“Act The Thought,” as the exhibition is called, will gather over a thousand portraits, to be simultaneously displayed at the Leça do Balio Monastery starting on June 21, creating one of the largest cultural manifestos in Portugal.
The photographs will unite, in a single initiative, the faces of anonymous figures and prestigious national and international personalities who, in some way, have had or are having their lives impacted and constrained by the lack of freedom and political silencing, which are major vehicles of misinformation. Among these personalities are names such as Malala Yousafzai, Nelson Mandela, Toni Morrison, Gilberto Gil, José Saramago, and Mário Soares.
With the “Act The Thought” exhibition, the FLL aims to foster critical thinking, specifically around the phenomenon of false content propaganda.
To gather the necessary photographs for this grand manifesto, the Inside Out project is coming to downtown Porto with its Photobooth, the iconic van that is a photographic studio. Anyone can participate. Just show up!
